Studio Rental Policies
We want you to feel free to create in the medium of your choice. As this is a shared space, we strive for an atmosphere of mutual respect. These rules are designed to create a healthy, inspirational space for everyone to use.
Facility and studio keys/access codes are not to be shared with anyone else.
Please…
Avoid using any materials or medium that may contaminate another artist’s work or create toxic fumes (such as welding, spray paint, woodworking, pottery and kiln work). Please no glitter!
Prevent accidents by keeping walkways and sink areas clear at all times.
Use the microwave only for food (not for creating art).
Use the utility sink for art cleanup only. Please do not dump leftover supplies, food, paints or oils in the sinks.
Feel free to use the single-cup or pot-style coffee makers as well as the refrigerator. Bring your own beverage supplies. Any supplies in the buffet belong to the resident artists.
Help us prevent ants and other pests by throwing away all food-related garbage offsite, either in the outside dumpster by Door 17 or at home.
Keep noise to a minimum, when other artists are present, by using headphones to listen to music/podcast etc. and use the hallway for lengthy phone conversations.
Respect the resident artists’ work and studio areas, do not tour their area without permission.
Refrain from bringing guests without obtaining prior permission. We love children and we want to keep them safe. Many of the resident artists use toxic solutions/mediums to create their work. We also have sharp tools and a paper cutter. For this reason, we discourage bringing young children to the studio.
Keep the hallway door closed. If your medium of choice does emit strong odors, please run a fan and you may open the door (as long as you are in the room) to improve the air flow. If you need to step out, do not leave the door open.
Many people are sensitive to fragrances. Please do not burn candles, incense or use essential oil diffusers.
Clean up at the end of every day. Unless prior permission is granted, tables and workspaces in the common area must be cleared away of all projects at the end of the day. Makers may store materials in a designated cabinet.
Turn off the lights when you are finished. (Unless someone else is using the room.)
